West Laurel Hill is presenting two one-of-a-kind featured excerpts with Pennsylvania Ballet this May in celebration of the cemetery’s 150th anniversary. Both presentations will be followed by meet and greet opportunities with the dancers of each play as well as the artistic director and a reception with drinks and light fare. Proceeds from this fundraiser will benefit The Friends of Laurel Hill Cemetery.
Giselle: Sunday, May 5th – 12:30pm
There are many great stories of heartbreak and redemption, but none are quite as beautiful as Giselle. Giselle is one of the ballet’s oldest and most continually-performed hauntingly romantic works and the daytime performance will feature an exclusive scene from the play. *Fun fact: the first American ballerina to perform as Giselle is buried in our sister cemetery, Laurel Hill. Tickets for this performance are $100.
Romeo & Juliet: Sunday, May 5th – 5pm
The evening performance will feature a scene from one of history’s most enduring love stories, Romeo & Juliet. The performance will take place on the grounds just outside of the cemetery’s largest mausoleum, Betz. Tickets for this performance are $125.
